Amberg Park Clean Up Day!

This weekend was the first Amberg Park Clean Up Day at Amberg Park located at Keokuk and Gustine! It was great to see so many neighbors come out to clean-up our park and really start to turn it around. The park has had problems with litter, drinking, and some violence in the past, so it was refreshing to come together as a community to clean it up. Sometimes it takes the community to come together and unite…to work around a common issue and start bridging the gap from issues and complaints to action. One neighbor mentioned that he was tired of getting no response from elected and city officials on the trash problems at the park and so he called the City Parks Department and requested more trash cans for the park. They arrived the next day. If I recieve the honor of being elected Alderwoman of the 25th Ward, I will not only work beside you in events like the Amberg Park Clean Up Day, but I will also listen to your issues and ideas and make sure that I follow through with you. Take a look at my “priorities” page to learn more about how I plan on being a more accessible and transparent elected official.

Special thanks to Ryan and Sara Dannan organized the event and even created a website devoted to our neighborhood park here.

Steve Patterson, blogger of urbanreviewstl.com, wrote a nice post on the event that you can read and see more pictures here.
