Downtown Dutchtown (East Grand) Clean-Up

The second Dutchtown Neighborhood “Tidy Bowl” Day was recently held on October 11, 2008 in efforts to help clean-up and beautify the sidewalks and streets of downtown Dutchtwon (near Meramec Street and Virginia Avenue).

I stopped by with a few friends and neighbors to get my hands pretty dirty in helping to remove weeds from sidewalk cracks and around the tree wells, as well as pick up trash and sweep dirt that has collected in the area.

We all met one of the organizers of this years Downtown Dutchtown Business Association “Tidy Bowl,” Shane Cohn, at the Urban Eats Cafe and Bakery at 3301 Meramec Street, divvied up sections of Meramec Street, and went to work. It was really great to see some young volunteers and other neighbors come together to help make our neighborhood a better place to live!
